You have requested from the first year for instructions on how to operate your computer. We are offering simple down to earth lessons with language that you can understand. We come to your home as your schedule permits and teach you on your computer. Hands on is the best way to learn and I might add, on a computer that you are familiar with.
#1. If you don't know the mouse from the monitor that is just fine, it will be just as easy to teach you from the basics.
#2. It makes no difference if you are 12 or 112 or your educational background, if you want to learn bad enough we can teach you. your ability to learn is the only factor in how fast or how slow you learn, one student may learn to send e-mail quicker than the next student, it is the ability to hear and retain information that dictates how fast you learn, not how smart or how dumb you are. I have seen advertisements that claim they teach you windows in 2 hours, I have never seen anyone learn windows in 2 hours! What they mean I am sure is that you can open and close windows and learn a few minor things about windows in two hours. This is in no way running down anyone, it is just unrealistic to say you can learn windows in 2 hours.
#3. The 5 and 10 hour packets we offer are designed with the beginner in mind, or someone needs to learn more about e-mail, windows etc. This will give the student a chance to get the feel of their computer, learn how to get around in windows, basics of wordpad, basics on how to properly maintain and shut down your computer, basics of how to use the e-mail. The 10 hour packet gets deeper into the above subjects. People have different reasons for purchasing a computer, 90% want to learn how to use the internet (surf) and send e-mail.
#4.We teach you in your home with your schedule in mind at no extra cost. Tapes and books are good for some but hands on with a skilled teacher gets results every time.
#5. If you have been considering buying a computer we realize it is a major purchase, and you should know as much as possible about the computer you own or about to purchase, and you need information from a qualified person. We can answer your questions in a down to earth language you will understand. Computers have come a long way as far as quality. We can't tell you the very best to buy, but there are a few we can advise you not to buy. So if you are ready to purchase a computer then do so by all means. A computer and a Internet connection will put information at your finger tips such as: Genealogy, Health Questions, Product Reviews, Recipes, The Law, New Friends from every part of the world, just to name a few of thousands of things you can do with a computer. It is a good investment, now and for the future.
#6. Explanation of the 5 and 10 hour packets:
We teach the 5 hour packet in 3 lessons: First lesson 2 hours, second lesson 2 hours, third lesson 1 hour. The third lesson is to refresh and test on all three lessons.
The 10 hour packet is actually 11 hours (recommend for the beginner), 1 free hour is given with the purchase of the 10 hour packet. There is no hard sales or pressured type sales at Tech1, if you want the 5 hour packet then that is what you get. We can recommend packets on request, all we need to know is: Do you know anything about using a computer? If you have used a computer do you know what area your weak in? We have students that know Excel, WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3 etc. that has no idea how to use the internet or send e-mail. On the other side we have students that never turned a computer on, that is what I am getting at, where are you as for as knowledge of a computer? In summery: We teach the personal computer, for personal use.
#7. Each 10 hour packet you get a free hour: If you purchase a 20 hour packet you receive 2 free hours, 30 hour packet you receive 3 free hours etc.
It just depends on how much you want to learn, and that is the bottom line.
There are NO Dummies in my book that want to learn, and I would never buy a book that implies I am a dummy! That is a direct insult to a person! To summarize: I believe anyone can learn anything if they want to bad enough regardless of age or educational history. I have taught people that only went to the third grade and were convinced they were just too dumb to learn a computer. I would not insult you in anyway by telling you that you could learn if I thought it was a bit to hard for you to deal with. Just remember people build computers, so who do you think is smarter? ( :
