A Free Gift

Amazing Grace, it truly is Amazing. This is the message that Jesus Christ delivered. He offered salvation to anyone that would believe in Him. But many in that day would not give up their belief in salvation by work. The Law, that was what kept many from following Jesus's teachings. For 4000 years men and women tried to live by the law. They could not do it. They still had to go to the alter with their sacrifices, just to cover their sins. Once a year, the High Priest would go into the Holy of Holies to offer to God a sacrifice for the people just to cover the sins for that year. They had to work for their salvation.

When Jesus Christ arrived on the scene, he told the people how to obtain favor with God without sacrificing animals daily and going through all the ritualism they had been accustomed to for centuries. Many were relieved because the Messiah they had waited for was finally there, but many couldn't give up their work. They couldn't give up the Law that they had tried to live by all their lives. They continued in their disbelief.

Stop trying to work your way to Heaven. There is only one way to Heaven, that is through Jesus Christ.

Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus is speaking "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give ye rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
